Energy Boosting Maca Turmeric Latte

Updated: Oct 23, 2021

For those of you that know me or have been hanging around here for a while, you know I would normally drink 1 or 2 coffees every single day.

I love coffee…. The smell. The ritual. The social aspect.

But what I don’t love is my NEED to drink it, the withdrawals if I go without or the fact that it’s not actually the best thing to be drinking for my adrenals (aka it’s not helping my stress levels!).

So, I figured it was time to give my adrenals a rest and I’ve been able to go completely cold turkey. And get this…. Without withdrawals. All thanks to this little powerhouse replacement. Incredible right?

It’s a Maca Turmeric Latte and I’ve felt so much better since drinking it.

I no longer wake up in the morning feeling like I can’t get going without my normal cup of coffee. It’s been kinda liberating to be honest.

I didn’t like the feeling of “having to have a coffee”. It’s like an addiction. Ok. It is an addiction. Yikes!

Instead, now I enjoy a Maca Turmeric Latte mid morning and make up for a bit of caffeine with Green Tea (another powerful antioxidant boost) in the early afternoon.

It’s been incredible.

You can play around with your ingredients but the most important ingredients in this powerhouse drink is the Cacao (not to be confused with cocoa), Maca Powder and Turmeric.

The Black Pepper and Coconut Oil in this recipe support the absorption of the Turmeric.

If you would like more healthy and delicious gluten free meals like this one,

some of the benefits of a Maca Turmeric Latte are as follows

Maca

  • Supports women during menstruation and menopause.

  • Balances skin blemishes and can support you during times of stress. (I think I can safely say most of us need help in this department)

  • Most importantly it can boost energy as it reduces fatigue.

Turmeric

  • Highly anti-inflammatory

  • High in antioxidants to fight oxidative stress

  • Can alleviate depression

Cacao

  • Helps fight fatigue

  • Can boost mood and skin health

  • Improve digestion

Coconut Oil

  • Can help raise good cholesterol

  • Boost brain function

Cinnamon

  • Improves metabolism

  • Reduces bad cholesterol

  • Helps regulate blood sugar levels

  • Anti inflammatory

I also have been trialing this Latte with different plant based milks. I’ve found that soy milk goes very thick and needs half soy milk and half water, whereas almond milk makes a delicious creamy, smooth texture.

You will need

1 1/2 Cups Plant Based Milk of choice

1 tablespoon Maca Powder

1 tablespoon Cacao Powder

1 tablespoon Coconut Oil

Coconut Sugar (optional - to taste)

1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract

1/2 teaspoon Turmeric

1/8 teaspoon Cinnamon

Pinch Himalayan Pink Salt

Pinch Black Pepper

To make

Thermomix Method

Place all ingredients in Thermomix and heat to 90 degrees on speed 1 for 3 minutes. Blend on speed 7 for 30 seconds and enjoy in your fave mug.

Saucepan Method

Place all ingredients in Saucepan and stir to combine. Simmer until bubbles start, stirring regularly until all ingredients combined. Enjoy in your fave mug.

I’d love to hear from you if you make this.....please tag me on socials in your pics.
