Non-Toxic Ant Spray

Updated: Apr 22, 2021

Every Summer we get ants in our kitchen. Mostly they go for our Dogs food but they also end up on the benches.

When they appear I always make sure to put our dogs bowl of food within a bigger bowl and fill that with water. This prevents the ants from being able to get into his food.

This time when the ants appeared, my husband said he would set off a bug bomb when we were going out that evening. No way!! Those bombs are toxic and I can literally taste the chemicals on my tongue for days afterwards.

There’s no chance I wanted our house to be coated in toxic chemicals just to get rid of a few little ants.

So I decided to come up with a natural solution. And I’m pleased to say it was instant. I didn’t even have to go to the shops to buy a spray bomb so it was actually quicker than my hubby’s crazy idea.

I simply made a Non-Toxic Ant Spray with water and Essential Oils. Couldn’t have been easier.

You will need

An empty spray bottle

1 Cup Water

30 Drops Peppermint Essential Oil

15 Drops Lemon Essential Oil

To Make

Mix ingredients in a spray bottle and spray on the areas where you have ants and also along their trail and entry points.

Apparently they don’t like the smell so won’t want to hang around.

This spray is much gentler on your health and that of your family and pets. I might even continue to spray a small amount near the main entry point to keep them at bay.

I like to keep a variety of Essential Oils on hand as they are so useful for so many reasons. I’m not brand loyal at all so can’t recommend a brand for you to try.

Please just look for a quality product that you trust or if a friend has partnered with a company, I suggest purchasing through them to support their small bizz.
